Morgan Balderas, who plays second base for the Highland Community College softball team, was named the KJCCC Division II Softball Player of the Week, the second time this season that she has earned that distinction.
Balderas led the Scotties to taking four of five games last week, going 10-of-18 at the plate. In those 10 hits were three home runs, three doubles, and eight RBIs. She also walked twice, giving her an on base percentage of .600 with nine runs scored. On the season, Balderas, a sophomore from Wichita, leads the Scotties in several statistical categories: runs scored (36), hits (39), doubles (9), triples (5), home runs (8) total bases (82), and being hit by pitch (6). She also leads the team with a .965 slugging percentage.
