The 12-0 Highland women’s basketball team moved up to #4 in the national polls after beating previously unbeaten and #1 Johnson County. “I think we are establishing ourselves as one of the top teams in country. Our ladies have worked extremely hard and I’m excited for them,” said head Coach BJ Smith. The Scotties are currently second in the country in scoring (87.8 ppg) as well as in the top 10 of almost every statistical category nationally.
This is the second time in two years the Scotties have been in the top five nationally as they were ranked fourth last season as well. “We are pleased with where we are at this point, but we are a long way from being satisfied. There is a lot of season left,” Smith said.
The Scotties have one more game before Christmas break against Kansas City Kansas Community College in Kansas City at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 15, on the campus of KCK.
