Highland to Conduct Annual Art Day

One of the most popular student events hosted annually at Highland Community College is the Art Day, hosted by the College Art, Design, and Photography Department.  This year’s Art Day, to be held on April 26, will be the 32nd Annual High School Art Competition.  The artistic theme for Art Day 2012 will be The Premier Pop Art Issue.

Art Day 2012 will consist of a juried art competition, professional artist workshops, and various other art activities designed to challenge and enlighten participating students. The competitive exhibition is designed to recognize artistic talent at the senior high level (grades 9-12) within the state of Kansas. This year’s Art Day will be attended by over 600 students from thirty-five high schools who will exhibit over 1000 works of art. The Art Day experience is an excellent opportunity for students and art educators to view the creative efforts of their contemporaries and colleagues.

Additional information can be obtained from the Web at http://depts.highlandcc.edu/artday/.  The annual Art Day is coordinated by HCC art faculty Glen Gross, Matt Leahy, Amy Lenharth, and Sam Perkins.
