The Highland Community College softball team, currently ranked eighth in the NJCAA Division II polls, is returning to the National Tournament after a 3-0 run through the NJCAA Region VI Tournament held at Hummer Park in Topeka. The Scotties will play in the National Tournament, to be held at Traceway Park in Clinton, MS, on May 17, 18, and 19.
The 48-11 Highland squad will enter the National Tournament with a 26 game winning streak which extends back to March. To get to the Tournament, the Scotties defeated Brown Mackie 2-0 in the first game on Saturday and then Johnson County 4-3 in eleven innings later on Saturday. Johnson County came back on Sunday, but the Scotties were waiting and took a 3-1 victory to win the Region Championship.
