Highland Community College has hired Nancy Nelson as the new Reading Instructor. She will begin her new role with the upcoming Fall semester at the College.
Nelson comes to the College from the Savannah, MO school district where she was teaching reading, literature, and composition. She has also taught reading at the Riverside school district and Missouri Western State University, and also helped write the self-evaluation review for accreditation for the American College of Technology.
A native of California, Nelson holds a bachelor’s degree from William Penn University in Iowa and a master’s degree from Northwest Missouri State University. She has also completed certification from Emporia State University in Reading Recovery. In addition, Nelson has ESL training from Kansas State University and a Guided Reading/Literacy Coach certificate from Pittsburg State University.
