Highland Football Earns National Ranking

For the first time in over 25 years, the Highland Community College football team is nationally ranked. The NJCAA released this week's National Rankings and Highland squeezed into the 20th spot, receiving nine votes.

This ranking is well deserved for the 4-1 Scotties after defeating #8 Dodge City in week one and defeating #13 Hutchinson on Saturday. Highland's only loss this season came on the road to #5 Garden City where HCC was defeated 6-13. Dodge City is still ranked #10 in the NJCAA poll, Hutchinson is receiving votes and Garden still sits at #5.

Coach Aaron Arnold had this to say about the ranking. "It's a nice honor, and I am really happy for our players who are receiving the recognition they deserve. But, at the end of the day, mid-season rankings don't mean a whole lot. We still have six games left to play against good opponents, and we need to stay focused on getting better each week."

The Scotties have a bye week this week and travel to Butler Community College in El Dorado on October 8th. That game is set for a 7:00 pm kickoff.
