Constitution Day commemorates the historical formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787. On Highland’s campus, it was celebrated by several departments with events, prizes and tests of knowledge.
Library Director Cindy Davis and staff gathered students for quizzes on constitution knowledge and encouraged discussion. Copies of the constitution were provided as well as refreshments for students and staff.
“We had students taking quizzes online and earning prizes with the right answer. Then they could pop a balloon and get prize coupons.” Davis noted that students enjoyed the event, and many did well with the quizzes.
In addition to activities in the library, Highland’s Office of Financial Aid made copies of the constitution available in English and Spanish and hosted activities in another area of campus, the student union. Students were offered Highland themed goodies as well as the change to earn prizes.
