Highland Community College Atchison Technical Center Students Participated in Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, CApublished May 15, 2019
Approximately 6,000 conference delegates participated in Business Professionals of America’s (BPA) 2019 National Leadership Conference. Students competed in national level business skills competitions and attend leadership development activities, workshops, general sessions, and national officer candidate campaigns and elections. The highlight of the conference was the presentation of the awards to the winners of the national contests.
Highland Community College Technical Center’s instructor Carrie Miller and students Kinsey Boller (Horton), Madelyn Bruning (Everest), Marsha Beurman (Oskaloosa), Alicia Halling-Smith (Severance), Alanda Jamvold (Troy), Kaelyn Kimmi (Everest), Tara Palmateer (Everest), Samantha Spilman (Atchison), Deeghan Weishaar (Atchison), participated in the May 1-5, 2019 conference.
“Each year, the National Conference offers students the opportunity to showcase their skills and compete against other students from across the country, and be recognized for their dedication and hard work they have put forth through the year,” said chapter advisor Carrie Miller, who teaches the Business Technology program.
Placing at this year’s conference Kaelyn Kimmi 2nd Intermediate Word Processing, 3rd Advanced Office Systems and Procedures; Deeghan Weishaar 2nd Advanced Office Systems and Procedures; Samantha Spilman 4th Advanced Interview Skills, 8th Medical Office Procedures; Madelyn Bruning 6th Basic Office Systems and Procedures; Marsha Beurman 6th Banking and Finance; Alanda Jamvold 6th Graphic Design Promotion; Tara Palmateer 9th Integrated Office Applications; Kinsey Boller 12th Advanced Office Systems; Kimmi, Palmateer, Spilman and Weishaar also competed on the Administrative Support Team placing 6th.
In addition to having the opportunity to compete on the national stage and learn from leading business professionals, students had the opportunity to experience Anaheim, CA and the surrounding areas.
