Highland BPA Students to Attend National Leadership Conference

Administrative Assistant and Engineering Graphic Technology students from Highland Community College Technical Center (HCCTC) attended the Business Professionals of America (BPA) State Leadership Conference February 16 - 18, 2017 in Wichita. HCCTC Chapter members who attended were Rebekah Beisinger (Leavenworth), Cameron Hefner (Atchison), Darian Pilcher (Atchison), Jessica Stirton (Horton), Makayla Tull (Leavenworth), and Carrie Miller, Advisor/Business Instructor.

Students tested their knowledge in different business-related areas. Student placings include Administrative Support Team 1st (Beisinger, Hefner, Pilcher, Stirton); Banking and Finance 1st (Pilcher); Fundamental Desktop Publishing 1st (Hefner), 2nd (Tull), 4th (Stirton); Fundamental Word Processing 1st (Beisinger); Intermediate Word Processing 1st (Hefner); Medical Office Procedures 1st (Stirton), 2nd (Pilcher); Businsess Law & Ethics 1st (Beisinger), Interview Skills 2nd (Tull).

Students who placed first in their events will be traveling to Orlando, FL, to attend BPA’s 51st National Leadership Conference, “Spread Your Wings,” May 10-14, 2017. They will join thousands of students from across the nation to participate in national level business skills competitions.

BPA is a national organization for high school and college students preparing for careers in business and information technology. The organization’s activities and programs complement classroom instruction by giving students practical experience through application of the skills learned in class. BPA is contributing to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, and academic and technological skills.
