The Highland Community College vocal music department will present their fall concert on Thursday, October 20 and Saturday, October 22 at 7:30 pm on the Mary Helen Porter Stage in Culbertson Auditorium on the HCC campus. The concert will feature the HCC Chorus and Lads & Lassies under the direction of Shayna Leahy.
This semester’s concert is a benefit on behalf of the It Gets Better Project. ItGetsBetter.org is dedicated to providing online resources and support for bullied youth, to help prevent suicide, and spread the message that life gets better. HCC vocal music is proud to use the power of uplifting music to help share this idea. Concert admission is free, but a free will offering will be collected during the program to benefit this organization.
Audiences will enjoy a wide variety of sounds, from traditional choral works such as Z. Randall Stroope’s Homage and Frank Ticheli’s Earth Song, as well as contemporary pop favorites including Beautiful Day by U2, Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield, and Swept Away by Mandy Moore.
For more information, please contact Shayna Leahy at 785-442-6092 or sleahy@highlandcc.edu.
