Hasenkamp Throws All Time Best at Northwest

On a cold and rainy day, the women’s track team traveled to the Jock’s Nitch Northwest Missouri State University Open Meet on Saturday, April 7. Despite the weather, the team stepped up and achieved seven personal best times and marks at the meet.

Starting the day off was freshman Rebecca Hasenkamp (Soldier) with an all time best throw in the javelin on her first collegiate meet throw.  Her throw of 37.26 meters (122’ 3”) placed her second, only 30 centimeters off the national qualifying standard. This also currently places her 5th on the national performance list. In the same event, Erica Dwerlkotte (Frankfort) placed 6th with a throw of 30.45 meters. Finishing out the throwing events was Lisa Scholz (Denton) placing 3rd in the discus with a season best throw of 34.02 meters (111’ 07”) and a 5th place in the hammer throw.

In the running events, Keidra Wade (St Louis, MO) led the way with a 5th place finish in both the 100 meter and 200 meter. Her times of 12.79 in the 100, and 26.88 in the 200 were her season best times. Courtney Frady (Oregon, MO) also had a good day in the 200 meter with a time of 27.76, her best of the season.

“Even though the weather didn’t cooperate I thought the team did an excellent job stepping up. Things seem to be coming together now.  We just need to continue to work hard in practice and keep it rolling,” Coach Tom Bond stated.

The Scotties will be preparing for their next meet at William Jewell College, Liberty MO on Saturday, April 14.
