Freeman Assumes Counselor Position at Highland
Courtney Freeman is the new Counselor at Highland Community College. A native of Highland, Freeman earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Kansas State University and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Kansas. A Licensed Master Social Worker, she is currently working to become a Certified Play Therapist from Mid America Nazarene University.
Freeman comes to the College from the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska where she served as Crimes Against Women Counselor, providing therapeutic services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Prior to her work with the Tribe, she was a social work intern for the Palliate Care Team at the KU Med Center which provided medical social work services for terminally ill and end-of-life patients. Freeman was also a social work intern and Family Support Worker for KVC Behavioral Healthcare.
