Bees Workshop to be Conducted at Klinefelter Farm

Highland Community College is partnering with Glacial Hills RC&D, the Community Foundation of Northeast Kansas, and the Brown County Healthy Food Coalition to present a workshop on Discovering Bees and Other Beneficial Pollinators.  This workshop will be Tuesday, August 27, at the College’s Klinefelter Farm.  Participation is limited to the first 25 to register.  To register, call 785.740.4333 and ask for Linda or e-mail commfoundofneks@gmail.com.  Klinefelter Farm Director Wendall Ganstrom will be joined by Pete Fee, Iowa Tribe Community Garden Director, and Becky Tipton, Vice President of the Kansas Beekeepers Association.

This engaging workshop will introduce participants to essential resources that can complement anyone’s interest in specialty crop production, gardening, crafting, or cooking. Local experts will provide tips about how they attract pollinators to support production. Participants will sample treats made from tested recipes. Learn about the use of honey and beeswax to make candles and beauty treatments that naturally enhance your health and environment.
