Art Education (A.A.)

The Art Education degree program is recommended for individuals who want a career educating students in the basics of the visual arts.  The following curriculum is suggested for those students intending to complete an associate in arts degree at HCC and then transfer to a four-year institution to pursue a bachelor’s degree. The work of an art educator is to provide a foundation for lifelong enjoyment of the visual arts.  Art educators must enjoy working with people and be enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge and skills.

Suggested Program of Study

Art Therapy (A.A.)

This degree program is recommended for students desiring a career in art therapy. A strong foundation and interest in all forms of art as well as course work in psychology is recommended.

Computer Graphics (A.A.)

This degree program is recommended for students interested in a career in computer graphic design. Students need a strong foundation in design principles as well as an understanding of computer hardware and graphic software.

This degree program provides graphic design students with the necessary background for continued study in graphic arts and visual communication. This program will provide a solid foundation in art, advertising, graphic arts, photography, and art history.
