Highland Men’s Track Team Honored for Academics

The men’s track and field team at Highland Community College was honored by the NJCAA Track and Field Coaches Association for academic excellence for the 2013-14 school year.  The men posted a 3.48 semester GPA, the 3rd highest GPA among reported NJCAA track programs.  This recognition has earned the Highland men’s program an Academic Team of the Year honor for the third year in a row.

The six Academic All Americans who all had GPA’s over 3.40 from the 2013-14 team are, Nic Babel (Hiawatha),  Cody Catterson (Iola), Jacob Lott (Muscotah), Dakoda McDaniel (Perry), Seth Parres (O’Fallon, MO), and Clayton Stoppkotte (Shelton, NE). This academic honor, and with the men’s highest National Meet placing since 2001, led by school record holders and National Meet placers, Brian Martinez (10,000 meters, Pasadena, TX), and Steven Hill (Triple Jump, Lawrence), made this one of the most successful track and field seasons in Highland Community College history.
