Highland Hires Perry Center Director

Dr. Erin Shaw has been hired by Highland Community College to direct the College’s Perry Center.  Dr. Shaw comes to the College from Truman State University, where she served as an Academic Advisor.  Prior to that, she worked at the University of Oklahoma as a Resident Director, the Community Affairs Coordinator for Covenant House Alaska, and several positions at Prince William Sound Community College.

A native of Kansas, Dr. Shaw was born in Colby and grew up in Lawrence until 9th grade before attending high school in Alaska. She received her BA in Journalism-Public Relations and master’s in Adult and Higher Education from the University of Oklahoma and her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis–Higher Education Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Dr. Shaw started her new duties as Director of the Perry Center on October 1 and is the second generation in her family to lead a Highland regional center. Her step-father, Joseph Emmons, a well-known post-secondary and technical education leader in Kansas, was the interim director of the Wamego Center in 1999.
