Title: Head Baseball Coach After missing the playoffs the last few years, the Scottie baseball team has high hopes to change that in 2012. Head Coach Rick Eberly, entering his 21st season at Highland Community College, feels very confident they will turn things around this year. "We as a staff have worked very hard at addressing the areas that cost us a great deal of games last year." Eberly stated. Eberly was named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Coach of the Year in 2000. Coach Eberly spent eight years as the Head Baseball Coach at Tarkio College in Tarkio, MO before coming to HCC. While at Tarkio, Eberly led his team to three Heart of America Conference Championships and was named the Heart of America Coach of the Year three times. Coach Eberly played at Iowa Western, Texas Wesleyan, Clarinda Iowa A's, and in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. Rick resides in Highland with his wife Angie, who is the Director of the Walters Wellness Center for HCC, and his son Cooper. |
Rodney Eberly

Title: Assistant Baseball Coach Coach Rodney Eberly enters his eighth season as an Assistant Coach for the Scottie baseball program. Eberly was an outstanding player for HCC. He was a 1st Team All NJCAA Region VI selection in 1996 and was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 12th round. Rodney went on to the University of Alabama-Birmingham where he was a 1st Team All Conference selection. Following UAB Eberly signed with the Philadelphia Phillies organization where he played for two seasons. Rodney was the head baseball coach at Clarinda Community High School in Clarinda, IA for eight years. He led Clarinda to the District Championship in 2003, 2005, 2008 and to a State Championship berth in 2005. Eberly is also an assistant coach for the Clarinda Iowa A's summer league team and was an assistant football coach for seven years at Clarinda Community High School. Coach Rodney Eberly is single and resides in Highland. |
