PE 150 Personal Trainer Field Experience I (1)
This course is a beginning hands-on experience for students pursuing a personal fitness trainer degree. This course is designed to provide each student prusuing the field of personal fitness training with the insight to learn how to interact with members in a fitness atmosphere. The students will gain the necessary exercise knowledge to properly set up the fitness machines. The students will learn the different exercises associated with the member workouts. The course will provide students the opportunity to complete and Applied Science Degree and successfully complete the National Council of Strength and Fitness personal trianer exam.
PE 150B Personal Trainer Field Experience III (1)
Prerequisite: PE 150A - Personal Trainer Field Experience II
This course is a third semester course with more hands-on experience for students pursuing a personal fitness trainer degree. This course is designed to provide each student pursuing the field of personal fitness training more experience in writing comprehensive wellness programs with the input of the trainer. The studnet will be able to follow their written program and apply it to the member and/or for which it was intended. The course will provide students the opportunity to complete an Applied Science Degree and successfully complete the National Council of Strength and Fitness personal trianer exam.
PE 150C Personal Trainer Field Experience IV (1)
Prerequisite: PE 150B - Personal Trainer Field Experience III
This course is a 4th semester course that provides the student with other opportunities to pursue his or her career. This course is designed to provide each student pursuing the field of personal fitness traning more experience outside of the college wellness center and campus., The student will be able to job shadow or interact, with surrounding fitness areas and the YMCA, depending on the facility. The student will be able to extend his or her knowledge base in the areas of Personal Fitness Training. The course will provide students the opportunity to complete an Applied Science Degree and successfully complete the National Council of Strength and Fitness personal trianer exam.
PE 151 Clinical Experience Athletic Training I (2)
Prerequisite: TST005 - Instructor Permission
Students will receive an introduction to clinical experiences in the Highland Community College Athletic Training Education Program. There will be application of introductory skill modules through laboratory practice and clinical experiences in natural settings.
